To the north of the Algarve lies the Baixo Alentejo, a huge and sparsely populated area of gently rolling steppe and grassland with woodlands of Cork Oak and occasional rocky outcrops. Here we find many bird species that are absent or difficult to see in the Algarve and a visit at any time of the year is usually rewarding. Doñana National Park (or the Coto Doñana) is usually described as the most important wetland in Europe and it is hard to argue with that. In fact it is one of the best places in Europe both for the diversity of species occurring and for the number of birds that winter there. It takes about two hours for us to get there from Tavira. Wherever you are staying we can collect you and return you. We recommend early morning starts for the best results, but that’s up to you.
We will normally take a maximum of three people at a time but whether it is one, two or three people the cost is the same. We can also cater for larger groups.
For longer distance outings, for instance to the Alentejo or Doñana National Park, in addition to our normal fee, we ask you to cover our fuel cost.
On a full day trip we can provide a picnic lunch if required for a small additional charge.
